Marlin layers materials and many techniques between a layer of acrylic paint and the canvas. These include industrial tracing paper, printed-paper, stickers, prints of digitalised photographs, blank radiographs and paints on which shadows play. The layering and different surfaces, which are more or less matted, lavishly play with light’s reflections.

Marlin has succeeded in creating a whole world of characters that are both deformed and realistic whilst being serious. His work is regularly exhibited in Belgium, France as well as Luxembourg, and has also been presented in the United Kingdom, Japan and the United States.
